Hi, I have a number of 71st NY items from a soldier who was in Company A at the battle of Bull Run. His name was George W. Morgan and was a prolific music writer both before and after the war. Much of his sheet music is preserved in the National Archives. He was born in Gloucester and emigrated to the states in the 1850s. I have several of his personal items plus other 71st NY items. I was compiling realted things in hopes of writing about him later. : : Hi, I am an Australian PhD candidate researching the 71st New York Regiment from their service in the Civil War up to 1898. I have access to 'official' histories, Adjutant General's reports etc. What I am after is more peronsal information about the unit. Eg, photos, letters, diaries etc. Can anyone help?

If the person posting this message left their e-mail address, we inserted some random characters to prevent spammers from harvesting their address. Spammers do this with automated "bots" that constantly search the Web looking for e-mail addresses. Since you're a human being, not a bot, you can easily obtain the real address by removing the text that says "ThisisToPreventSpam-XYZ-RemoveThis." including the random number XYZ and the period at the end. For example, <whitten@ThisIsToPreventSpam-123-RemoveThis.despammed.com> would become <chris-(@)-interesting.com>.
