New York History Forum: General Slocum Disaster
Posted by: Karen (karen.lamberton@ThisIsToPreventSpam-719-RemoveThis.spyral.net) on 30 Jul 2002 at 7:39:13 AM
There is so much mis-information floating around about this part of New York's history, that when I discovered that my family had been aboard this ship, I decided to write the book to set the story straight! I have completed a lot of the background work, and am now looking for descendants of anyone involved with this ship either as passenger, rescuer, medical, fire, police, bystander, etc. If your family has passed down a story I would like to hear it! Please Email me at; karen.lamberton@spyral.net. PS- The General Slocum was NOT a ferryboat. She was a seasonal excursion vessel chartered for day trips during the week and taking the beach crowds to Rockaway on the weekends between june and Sept. only.
